SHOWPOW Unleashes Thai Soft Power, Elevating Thai Fashion to the Global Stage

The Ministry of Industry, through the Department of Industrial Promotion (DIPROM), has organized the SHOWPOW event to promote Thai Soft Power in the fashion industry on the global stage. This activity brings together entrepreneurs, designers, and students from the fashion and handicraft circles to showcase Thailand's potential and creativity. The event features fashion products from over 100 brands, along with fashion industry seminars, workshops on beauty knowledge and product image creation, and fashion shows from the country's leading fashion design universities.

Bangkok University has been given the opportunity to participate in SHOWPOW, which is considered an important platform for promoting Thailand's Soft Power in fashion and handicrafts. Fashion Design, School of Fine and Applied Arts, has been honored to organize a fashion show presenting the design works of two fashion design alumni, Ms. Sawaros Boonphak and Ms. Tichakorn Muenlea. These works are part of their thesis projects for the 2023 academic year, which transformed Thai fabrics into contemporary fashion that reflects Thai identity and culture.

Additionally, Bangkok University has been selected to present works featuring Pa Kao Ma (traditional checkered cloth) from the Ban Khao Tao community in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, which were previously exhibited at the Sustainability Expo 2024, the largest innovation and sustainability exhibition in the ASEAN region. These works are part of the national-level Soft Power development, using woven fabrics from the Ban Khao Tao community to develop products that can compete and meet the needs of international usage and fashion.

The event also features other leading universities that have been invited to participate, with each institution selecting works that reflect the potential of students and the diversity of fashion design. SHOWPOW represents a significant opportunity to showcase the potential of Thai educational institutions and serves as a platform to promote the Thai fashion industry internationally.
