BU X SARAPAD THAI @ONE BANGKOK: Cultivating Fashion Designers with Community Hearts, Creating Thai Khao Ma Fabric into Contemporary Fashion

Students from School of Fine and Applied Arts, Bangkok University, learned both theory and practice from real business challenges in the Creative Venture Lab: BU X SARAPAD THAI @ ONE BANGKOK project. This project provides a space for students to develop entrepreneurial skills in the creative business sector, focusing on nurturing new generation fashion designers to gain expertise in both business management and entrepreneurship, with support from Thai Beverage Public Company Limited, EISA, Sarapad Thai shop at ONE BANGKOK, and the Khao Ma fabric production community in Pathum Thani Province.

The project aims to create opportunities for students to learn and grow professionally in the fashion industry while instilling awareness of community assistance, social service, and Thai identity. Additionally, the project seeks to apply knowledge and skills from coursework, allowing students to practice working with communities to develop Khao Ma fabric and waste materials from production processes. The participating community is the Cotton Design Community Enterprise in Pathum Thani Province. The project emphasizes design to increase market value by transforming Khao Ma fabric into contemporary Thai fashion lifestyle products aligned with the style of Sarapad Thai shop at ONE BANGKOK, which serves as a simulated channel for selling community products in the future. This helps increase community income and promote community products to become more famous among both Thai and foreign tourists. The work displayed represents collaboration between two faculties: Fashion Design Department, School of Fine and Applied Arts, and the Event Production and MICE Management Department, School of Communication Arts, Bangkok University, fulfilling the objective of real learning from direct experience.
