Bangkok University Partners with Sony Thailand to Demonstrate "OCELLUS" for the First Time in Thailand — Opening the World of Virtual Production and Immersive Experience Design

Bangkok University continues to advance Thailand's digital media industry by partnering with Sony Thailand Co., Ltd. and Verse Media Technology Co., Ltd. to host the first-ever demonstration of "OCELLUS Camera Tracking" Marker-Free technology in Thailand — through the Virtual Production and Virtual World Experience Design Program, Faculty of Digital Media and Film Arts. The event opened new dimensions in Virtual Production (VP), In-Camera VFX (ICVFX), and Augmented Reality (AR) for the film, broadcast, sports, and events industries.

This collaboration reflects Bangkok University's role as an institution committed to developing creative and media technology talent, while connecting academic knowledge to real industry practice — elevating Thai content production standards to the global stage.

Attendees experienced a "First Look" at OCELLUS (ASR-CT1) — Sony's first camera tracking system — featuring Marker-Free Tracking technology that reduces installation complexity while delivering flexible, precise AR and Virtual Production performance, demonstrated end-to-end by a team of specialist engineers.

A special panel discussion brought together experts from multiple sectors — film, live television broadcast, and education — including Sun–Rangsri Sankingthong, Cinematographer from Final Pixel Studio; Khem–Warat Chitchop from Niva Technology; Job–Danuwat Jetana, Cinematographer; and Ajarn Tanongsak Suwannarat, lecturer at School of Digital Media and Cinematic Arts — sharing real-world experience and strategies for preparing Thai talent for world-class content production.

Khun Kittiphat Jinathong from Verse Media Technology Co., Ltd. also presented the application of OCELLUS in Virtual Production and Immersive Technology workflows, demonstrating its potential for high-end advertising production and special effects-driven media.

About OCELLUS (ASR-CT1)

A significant Sony innovation developed specifically for Virtual Production and AR, OCELLUS features Marker-Free camera tracking via Visual SLAM technology, delivering precision tracking both in-studio and on location, with compatibility across multiple camera brands — making it ideal for modern production workflows that demand maximum flexibility.

This collaboration marks another important step for Bangkok University in driving future media technology learning, creating a space where students and creative professionals can engage with real cutting-edge technology and develop internationally competitive content creation capabilities.
