BU AIR x Thai Airways Enhances Sustainable Aviation Business Management Skills through the POLC Framework

Airline Business Management Department (BU AIR), School of Humanities and Tourism Management, organized the activity "The Sustainable Climb: Crafting Aviation's Future with POLC" as part of the Airline Business Management and Organizations course. The initiative aims to strengthen strategic thinking skills and understanding of aviation organizational management based on sustainability concepts, utilizing the POLC Framework—a critical tool for guiding international-level organizations that aligns with sustainable development goals emphasizing responsibility toward passengers, organizations, and society.

The event was honored by the participation of Ms. Supha Kanpiamjaem from the Training Unit, Personnel, Training and IT Systems Group, Suvarnabhumi Flight Kitchen Department, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited. She shared her experience and exchanged perspectives on sustainable aviation organizational management, connecting learning through the Planning –Organizing – Leading – Controlling (POLC) framework to help students understand the roles of planning, organizational management, and team leadership in the real context of the international aviation industry.

Additionally, she participated in evaluating and providing feedback on students' simulated aviation industry business projects. The learning was structured through Problem-Based Learning (PBL) methodology, involving presentations, in-depth analysis, and collaborative discussion to develop strategic thinking skills, the ability to connect theory with practice, and professional communication—key competencies valued by the aviation industry in the context of sustainable development.

This collaboration between BU AIR and Thai Airways reflects Bangkok University's approach to student development, which emphasizes learning from real situations while enhancing capabilities in management, critical thinking, and strategy design that considers the sustainability of the aviation industry.
